EURid has reduced the domain registration and renewal charges for .eu domains from 10 to 5 euro with effect from January 1st 2007.

The overall credit of this substantive fall goes to the huge interest in .eu and the rising number of registrations. The fee set by the company is charged to the commissioned .eu registrars and which in turn locate the prices for their clients.

Numerous registrars roll up their services to integrate web hosting and email packages. But, EURid is confident that the price decline will be carried over that will also benefit the end users.

Van Wesermael, Managing Director of EURid said, “EURid is now following up on its promise to reduce the fees after one year of operation. We hope this will stimulate more users to see the advantage of having a true European Internet presence by choosing a .eu domain name.”

EURid is the non-profitable organization, based in Belgium. The European Commission has been nominated it to manage the .eu top level domain. It was established in partnership between DNS BE, IIT CNR and NIC SE, operators of the country-code top level domain registries for Belgium (.be), Italy (.it) and Sweden (.se). Its main headquarters are located in Brussels.
